Portugal Masters Winner - Tom Lewis

Tom Lewis won the 2011 Portugal Masters held at The Victoria course 13-16th October. The Residences resort overlooks the 8th & 9th fairways of the Victoria course. This is his first European Tour title in only his 3rd professional start.

The 20 year old from England, won the 5th Portugal Masters with 21 under par, becoming the joint third quickest Affiliate Member to win on The European Tour. Tom started the final round in 8th position, 4 strokes behind the over night leader Rafael Cabrera-Bello of Spain, who finished second, 2 strokes behind.

Tom took home €417,000 and we all look forward to seeing him here next year, once the dates have been finalized.

He shot to fame this year at The 140th British Open Championship after posting the lowest-ever score by an amateur in Open history in the first round at Royal St. George’s, a brilliant 65 leaving him tied for the early lead with Thomas Björn, before eventually finishing tied for 30th and winning the Silver Medal as the leading amateur. He also played a successful part in the successful 2011 Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup Team that defeated the USA 14-12 at Royal Aberdeen. He played in all four matches and gained one and a half points, before turning professional this September. Tom comes from Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, the same club that produced Sir Nick Faldo and was named after his father’s golfing hero and the man he shared the tee with in his famous first round at The 2011 Open, American legend Tom Watson.

The Residences Owners Pro-Am Team

Wednesday 12th October saw 3 lucky owners playing with Scottish Professional Paul Lawrie in the Portugal Masters Pro-Am Tournament at The Victoria course.

The team finished in the top 10 with 15 medal points.

Paul Lawrie won the British Open in 1999 at Carnoustie and played in the Ryder Cup that year at Brookline USA.

Congratulations to Declan Towey (Owner) who was invited at the last minute to join the Thai Professional Thongchai Jaidee, whose team finished third with 23 points, 2 behind the winning team.

Owners Vilamoura Golf Prices

Please note the new Oceanico 2012 prices operate from 1st November.

Only registered owners and their nominated family members of The Residences, Victoria, have the privilege of playing all 5 Vilamoura Golf Courses for half price. These owners special prices are 50% less than booking direct with the golf courses, any hotel or booking Agency.

Owners and nominated family members, playing the 5 courses throughout the year, pay on average only €40 per round as opposed €80 direct. With no joining fee or annual subscription this is an extremely valuable benefit with 28 years remaining until July 2039.

Owners Summer Rental Income

All owners in the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts rental pool have now received their income for the first six months of the year.

The rental pool is on budget to achieve for the full year almost €1,500,000 income, spread amongst the participating owners and Tivoli Hotels the operator. To date after 8 months, rental income is 30% more than 2010, an excellent result in difficult trading conditions.

Owners should remember the peak season average daily rates, especially August are €300 for a Resort Suite, 2 bedroom apartment and €350 for a Master Suite, 3 bedroom apartment.

To maximise their income and avoid the heat of the peak summer period many owners avoid August, visiting in July or September.
