The Owners Annual Golf Tournament at Victoria, Saturday 28th May
Now in its third year, this special annual event took place on the Oceânico Victoria Course on Saturday 28th May. A full course of players, including owners, friends and guests, took part with a shot gun start, followed by lunch at the Clubhouse. In the evening a cocktail reception was held at the Tivoli Victoria Hotel, followed by the prize presentations and Gala Dinner.

Talma Mitchell from The André Jordan Group thanked all the guests for supporting this most enjoyable annual event.
The events overall winner was Gerry Morris with 39 points, from the fair city of Dublin.
Gilberto Jordan, CEO of the André Jordan Group presented the winner of the owners award, to Andrew Kennedy, who scored 38 points with John Partridge second and Martin Quinlan third. All three players scored 38 points, Andrew winning on the back 9 hole count back. This makes it a clean sweep for the Kennedy family, father Paul 2009, son in law Edward Hynes 2010 and now son Andrew. Next year we need a serious challenge to the Kennedy domination.

There were a number of Special Prizes drawn from the players score cards, being complementary golf at various Championship courses and meals for two at several excellent restaurants.
Finally, there was a humorous surprise Special Award, presented to Juliet Locke by Paul Kennedy, for her perseverance and patience, way beyond the call of duty, having known our dear friend Alan Ellis for one year.
We all hope to see her next year.

The Residences at Victoria, Trip Adviser review 27th May 2011
“Absolutely perfect” 5 Star - Reviewed 27 May 2011
Spent a week here with my husband and two small children in early May and would highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for 5 star accommodation and facilities along with space of your own and good proximity to a resort and Faro Airport. From start to finish, the staff, services and amenities at the Residences were excellent in every way.
Located 4km from Vilamoura Marina, the taxi ride is less than 10 minutes and cost on average €10. The apartment itself was of an exceptionally high standard with large lounge, big screen TV, satellite, comfortable seating, large dining table, private patio, large separate kitchen, two large bedrooms, bathroom and ensuite. Showers, beds etc were all excellent.
The gardens and pools were very impressive, large outdoor pool, children’s paddling pool and indoor heated pool, also a playground. The staff and service were excellent and the bonus of access to the hotel across the road was super for a change.
All in all, I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a true 5 star apartment with nice pools, daily cleaning and proximity to Vilamoura for restaurants etc.

Owners Projected Rental Income 2011
The owner’s rental pool achieved €1,200,000 income for 2010, spread amongst the participating owners. The occupancy rate for the peak 4 summer months from mid June to mid October was 87%, August being 92%. The average daily rate in August for a 2 bedroom apartment (Resort Suite) was €300, a 3 bedroom apartment (Master Suite) €350. To maximise their income many owners leave August to the rental operation and visit in July or September.
The projection for 2011 is €1,560,000 a 30% increase, based upon more apartments available to the rental pool, higher daily rates, higher forecasted occupancy levels, due to repeat visitors, greater number of International Travel Agents promoting the Resort and more owners friends visiting.
Owners on average should expect an annual rental return of between €10,000 to €15,000, depending upon the dates and the amount of private usage. |

André Jordan receives an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Algarve
Developer and businessman André Jordan received an honorary doctorate from
the University of the Algarve on 1st June. Known for his development of both Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura, André Jordan
received his doctorate alongside Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of the United
Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
A traditional ceremony to honour both men was held, complete with an academic
procession involving all the faculties of the university in Faro, followed by a speech by the Dean, Professor João Guerreiro.
The ceremony was held as part of the UNWTO Forum Tourism and Science: Bridging theory and practice, held in Vilamoura between June 1 and 3. The photogragh shows the ex President of Portugal, Jorge Sampaio congratulating André Jordan.

Portugal Masters returns 13th to 16th October
Now in its fifth year, The Residences at Victoria overlooks the Masters Victoria Course. The Portugal Open normally held in the Lisbon area has merged with The Portugal Masters, to form a new enlarged tournament with total prize money of Euro 4 million. The top seven players last year were all from different countries, highlighting the International attraction for the professionals of this warm, sunny autumn event. We all look forward to the Masters returning the 13th to 16th October.

This will be a busy period starting Monday 10th through until Tuesday 18th. Richard Green of Australia won the fourth Portugal Masters with an 18 under par score, 2 shots ahead of 4 players held at The Oceânico Victoria Course last October.
